Service Above Self
Monroe Tractor recently garnered recognition from two different directions – first from the local community of Henrietta, and then by a key vendor – Doosan.
It all began with the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club, building on the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Rush-Henrietta Rotary President Walter V. Springer, Jr. announced that the club was seeking nominations by employees of local business firms to “recognize those employers . . . that exemplify . . . the ideals of service” that the club strives for in its relationships with those it serves.
With the first Henrietta Employer of the Year award in their sites, Monroe Tractor employees Kim Wilbert, rental office, and Linda MacArthur, sales, set out to nominate their employer for the Rotary award.
Nomination letters were limited to 100 words or less. As anyone who tries to write a nomination knows, it’s much harder to write with brevity than it is to pile on the words. Still, Linda tackled the challenge with vigor.
“Monroe Tractor, over the years, has donated equipment for the site work, building and maintenance of the grounds for the Rush-Henrietta Rotary Club as well as numerous playgrounds and ballparks in the community,” MacArthur wrote, adding, “They have also donated equipment for numerous Habitat for Humanity homes.”
The nomination concluded by noting that the company motto, “Where courtesy dwells and service excels,” is practiced every day, with every customer.
In presenting this award to Monroe Tractor, Springer noted that the club was initiating the “employer of the year” award to recognize those employers who exemplify our same ideals of ‘Service Above Self.’”
“It’s a true honor,” said Monroe Tractor President Janet Felosky, “especially knowing that it sprang from our employees. Since the day my father drove a stake in the ground 57 years ago, we’ve sought to put our employees and their families first because we understand that in order for our motto to be effective employees have to put our customers first.”
MT Takes DIA Award
Monroe Tractor was also recently awarded the top prize in Doosan Infracore America’s (DIA) “All Makes Fourth Quarter Contest.” The national contest, in which Doosan dealers competed against each other by purchasing All Makes products from DIA’s Atlanta headquarters, ran from October 1 through December 31, 2008. More than 200 dealer locations participated in the program.
Chris Felosky, product support manager of Monroe Tractor said, “Monroe Tractor credits much of the success that they have experienced selling Doosan’s All Makes parts to the eight product support reps that are a part of Monroe Tractor’s staff and are responsible for personally calling on and filling the parts and product support needs of central and western New York contractors. These products typically include items such as bucket teeth, filters, batteries and undercarriage parts. Equipment dealers have long requested alternative sources for aftermarket parts and Doosan has done an extraordinary job filling this need.”
Doosan and its aftermarket suppliers have been engaging in strategic alliances that bring its dealers quality aftermarket products at extremely competitive prices, which in turn allows contractors to purchase common parts for many makes and models of equipment at a tremendous savings.
The prize package that Monroe received consisted of a custom utility cart valued at $6,000 and $500 in Doosan merchandise.
